On Tuesday of this week, Florida recorded a jump in new COVID-19 cases after the lab Quest Diagnostics uploaded tens of thousands of test results. Some dating back to April. The state cut ties with Quest almost immediately. To understand the fallout of all this, WLRN’s Veronica Zaragovia spoke to two infectious disease epidemiologists, starting with Cindy Prins (PRINZ) from the University of Florida.

Students in Florida’s Capital City and in other districts across the state went back to school this week. The Department of Education’s school reopen order required districts to begin operating brick-and-mortar schools by Monday of this week. Ryan Dailey has more on what that’s been like.

The number of police in Florida schools has nearly doubled since the Parkland shooting. That’s according to a new report from the University of Florida. It comes as school districts around the country are cutting ties with police departments.
