The North Florida Wildlife Center (NFWC) recently welcomed National Geographic Explorer Joel Sartore for his fourth visit.
He photographed two endangered species at the center in Jefferson County for the Photo Ark. They are Cleopatra, a juvenile female grey crowned crane, and Seze’, an adult female bar-pouched wreathed hornbill (pictured below).
Sartore created the Photo Ark in 2006 in an attempt to document every species living in zoos, aquariums, and wildlife sanctuaries.
Since then, he has visited more than 50 countries and photographed more than 14,000 species in his quest to create this photo archive of global biodiversity.
Sartore keeps returning to NFWC in order to photograph the rare, endangered, and unique species that call the facility home. To date, he has photographed a dozen species there.
You can see the center’s residents during a guided tour, or stop by this weekend for the Easter Eggstravaganza featuring Easter egg hunts, goat feedings, food vendors and more.
