Sauls Endorses Jackson for Leon County Commission District Two

Outgoing Leon County District Two Commissioner Jane Sauls becomes the latest local incumbent to endorse a preferred successor. Sauls decided not to seek re-election after serving the district since 1996.

There are 8 people vying to succeed her in this election cycle. Now she has thrown her support behind one of them, Fort Braden School Principal Jimbo Jackson. In her endorsement statement, Sauls mentioned her long-time personal friendship with Jackson as the prime reason she’s backing his bid. And on WFSU’s recent Bandwagon program, Jackson said he considered his personal connection to the district his biggest asset.

“I have spent a lifetime, 42-plus years, establishing relationships in District Two, with the communities and people and families in District Two,” Jackson said during his 2-minute candidate speech.

Early voting begins Saturday, Aug. 20 in Leon County. The Primary Election is August 30th. If none of the eight District Two Commission candidates get 50 percent of the vote plus one in the primary, the top two vote getters will slug it out in the General Election November 8th.
