After a protracted legal fight, Justin Bruno will become Florida A&M University student body president.

Bruno won the SGA election, but voting issues at FAMU’s law school caused the results to be contested. As a legal battle waged in a Tallahassee courtroom, former university President Elmira Mangum appointed a student senate member to serve in place of the SGA President. The case was settled in September, with an appeals court ruling the student government association, not external courts have the right to set their own rules.

But Bruno’s time in office will be short. He’s set to graduate in May. Student body presidents in Florida’s public universities serve as voting members of their schools’ governing board.
