Florida State University President John Thrasher is joining more than five hundred other college administrators in defending undocumented immigrants.

President John Thrasher has signed a petition calling for the protection of undocumented immigrants who came to the country as children. Pomona College in California organized the letter, which says President Obama’s DACA program, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, should be "upheld, continued and expanded". The letter reads: recipients of DACA “represent what is best about America, and as scholars and leaders they are essential to the future”. Researchers at the Center for American Progress say DACA enables immigrants to get better jobs, integrate in society and pursue higher education. The program is one of the many that President-Elect Donald Trump could undo with the stroke of a pen.
