FSU Interim Provost Sally McRorie Nabs Permanent Job

Florida State University has a new second-in command, and the school is sticking to who it knows. Interim Provost Sally McRorie can now drop the word “interim” from her title.

Florida State University held a series of interviews during the past few weeks inviting its four main candidates to campus for in-person meetings with faculty, staff and school leaders.

University President John Thrasher announced McRorie’s hire Tuesday. He says she was the preferred choice of the faculty Senate and has a strong track record of accomplishments as a scholar and administrator at FSU and other schools.

McRorie has served as a professor, dean and Vice President. She replaces former Provost Garnett Stokes, who left to take a job at the University of Missouri after Thrasher was named president, a job Stokes also applied for. She had been considered for the job of FSU President, which went to Thrasher.
