We invite you to the exhibition “Friendly Arbitration: Honoré Daumier on Crime, Justice, and Punishment” on view at MoFA until Saturday, December 12. Friendly Arbitration examines Honoré Daumier’s (1808–1879) subversive use of lithography and wood engraving as tools for artistic innovation and social critique in nineteenth-century France. Bringing together original prints from his popular series on lawyers, the legal system, and crime and punishment, the exhibition explores how his satirical caricatures challenged judicial authority, exposed social inequities, and helped reshape the fields of art and journalism.

The FSU Museum of Fine Arts invites you to "Floating Metal: UNDERcurrents In My Father's Garden," on view from August 24, 2026 - March 13, 2027.

“Floating Metal” brings together sculpture, image, video, performance, and sound to honor the artistic legacy of Ed Love (1936-1999) and the intergenerational creative practice of choreographer and performer nia love (b. 1963). The exhibition extends nia love’s long-term serial projects g1(host) and UNDERcurrents, which explore the enduring histories of the Middle Passage and transatlantic slavery. This newest iteration continues to invite audiences to probe the seam between catastrophic history and everyday memory, pivoting on the elemental medium of water.

The exhibition also marks the first museum presentation of Ed Love’s Beloved series (1988) with metal sculptures commemorating black historical figures, completed shortly before his untimely passing in 1999. As a representative yet under-recognized artist of the Black Arts generation, Ed Love is known for welding discarded metal salvaged from scrap yards into powerful totems of global black consciousness. Likewise driven by the social force and weight of blackness, nia love’s multi-modal movement practice aims to breach the propriety of “dance,” refashioning it as gesture–the embodied memory of movement, geographies, and scales of time gathered and shared through black forms of life and culture.

The presentation of Floating Metal: UNDERcurrents In My Father’s Garden by nia love was made possible by the New England Foundation for the Arts’ National Dance Project, with lead funding from the Doris Duke Foundation and the Mellon Foundation. Additional support comes from FSU’s Council on Research + Creativity (CRC).

Mapped Journeys in Color & Verse features the abstract works of Susan Antoinette and local abstract artists. Combining vibrant color with thoughtfully incorporated phrases, her pieces serve as visual maps of life’s journeys, inviting viewers to reflect on personal paths, experiences, and the stories that shape us.

Camp Gordon Johnston WWII Museum in Carrabelle is presenting a special exhibit on Operation Market Garden. This exhibit will be on display at the museum from Tuesday, September 1 until Saturday, October 3. The museum is open every Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm ET. There is no charge for admission, but donations are gladly accepted.

Operation Market Garden (September 17th - 27th, 1944) was the attempt to establish control of the bridge over the Rhine at Arnhem on the border of Germany and the Netherlands. This involved the combined efforts of the First Allied Airborne and the XXX Corps of the British 2nd Army. The battle was unsuccessful for a variety of reasons, including the dependence on a single raised highway the ground forces had to use to link up with airborne troops (US, British and Polish) dropped at the three bridges.

This exhibit presents the military commanders from both the Allied and the German forces, and presents information of the Horsa and Waco gliders, as well as the Douglas C47 Skytrain aircraft used to bring troops and equipment from England.

The battle was commemorated in “A Bridge Too Far”, the 1977 film. “Band of Brothers”, a miniseries from HBO in 2001, also depicted the 101st Airborne's part in this battle. They landed near Eindhoven and Veghel.

Camp Gordon Johnston WWII Museum is located at 1873 Hwy 98 West, directly across from the very beach where the beach assault training occurred in 1942-1943. Tours meet at the Thomasville History Center at 9:30am to load onto the bus. Separate drivers can meet the group at the first tour stop by 10am. The bus will arrive back at the History Center by 4pm.

While Boston may be the second oldest town in the county, it's current location was not where its founders originally started. In the 1860s the community shifted the town two miles down the road to be closer to the railroad station. Formally incorporated in 1870, Boston has since remained a bustling town complete with a Carnegie Library that still serves the community's appetite for literacy. The town supports not only a strong agricultural community but also a thriving business sector in their historic downtown.

Guests are asked to wear comfortable walking clothes and closed-toe shoes. Some ventures may involve wandering off the beaten path. Water will be available but it is recommended to bring a water bottle. Lunch and additional purchases made during the Road Trip are not included in the ticket price. Munroe Family Community Gallery

Joel Thornton, a Tallahassee-based artist, brings together a vibrant body of work shaped by many years of dedicated practice and ongoing artistic study. Born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, Thornton discovered his love of painting in his youth, guided by his mother, who inspired him to create and cultivated his passion for the arts. After setting aside painting to build a career and raise a family, Thornton rediscovered his passion for painting. His paintings span portraits of both iconic figures and people from his everyday life, animals, and vibrant landscapes, all unified by his expressive use of color, attention to form, and deep interest in storytelling.
