Balder Saunders began playing mandolin at age seven and became a professional multi-instrumentalist when he was 14. Saunders enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and graduated first in his class at the John Philip Sousa School of Music. Saunders moved to Santa Rosa Beach in 2000 and played in numerous bands before co-founding Dread Clampitt with Kyle Ogle in 2002. Saunders demonstrates outstanding skill as he plays mandolin, is a lead and harmony singer, and contributes songwriting to the group. His skill as a writer and arranger adds the perfect amount of intellect, wit, humor, and excitement to each piece.

The Downtown Carrabelle business community has joined forces with Rio Carrabelle Art Gallery to host the downtown First Friday event series from 5:00-8:00 pm on the first Friday of every month in Carrabelle, FL. Come to LeMoyne Arts and view our latest exhibit, “Soulful Feelin’: A Folk Art Celebration”!On Saturday, May 4, you can experience this special Folk Art exhibition while enjoying some light refreshments and live music. Sip on mimosas, locally-brewed craft beer by DEEP Brewing Co., or delicious coffee from Argonaut Coffee and enjoy fresh-baked pastries from our friends at Uptown Cafe. Live music will be played by Elsinore Sewing Club.
During this exhibit, in collaboration with The John G. Riley Center & Museum, Lemoyne Arts is paying tribute to the enduring legacy of folk art as a universal form of expression. On display are renowned folk artists such as O.L. Samuels, Eddy Mumma, and Thornton Dial, Sr., alongside contemporary voices such as Mary Proctor.
An evening of heroes rounds out the TSO’s 2023-24 season. Music from Beethoven’s middle stage of composition, the “heroic” period, takes front and center with pianistic hero Jon Kimura Parker performing the grand 3rd piano concerto. Following this, you’ll hear the 3rd symphony — whose nickname Eroica means “hero” —conducted by TSO hero Maestro Darko Butorac in his final performance as Music Director and Conductor.

The Crooked River Lighthouse invites all to join in their festive Cinco de Mayo Celebration on Sunday, May 5, from 6:00-9:00 pm in Carrabelle, FL. Visitors can enjoy local, live music and delicious food amid the gorgeous natural surroundings of Forgotten Coast, under the evening sky. Two local favorites, A Train Stop food truck and Harry’s Mobile Pub, will be serving up tasty eats and drinks including everyone’s favorite, tacos! Admission is free, and donations to support the lighthouse's mission are gratefully welcomed.
Guests can anticipate a rollicking good time with the exceptional talents of Hot Mess, a dynamic 5-piece Zydeco Swamp Pop band based in Apalachicola, Florida. Experience their electrifying performances as they deliver their trademark fusion of powerful vocals, robust bass, soulful accordion and sizzling guitar. With Hot Mess, expect an unforgettable messy and eclectic journey.
Visitors can enjoy an after-hours tour of the Keeper’s House Museum and see the exhibit for the lighthouse’s original, historic Fresnel lens constructed in 1894 in Paris, France. Guests can browse the unique nautical gifts and souvenirs in the gift shop. Visitors may also enjoy the glowing bonfire in the park (weather permitting). Bring a chair and enjoy the evening.
For those daring adventurers who are ready to tackle the climb to the top of the tallest lighthouse on the Forgotten Coast, evening tower climbs are scheduled at 15-minute intervals throughout the event. Climbers will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the bay. Evening climbs cost $10 and climb reservations are encouraged due to limited availability. Climbers must be at least 44 inches tall. Advance climb tickets are strongly suggested as slots may sell out and can be purchased online at https://www.crookedriverlighthouse.com/category/programs-events/ or in the lighthouse gift shop.
