FSU Family Weekend brought hot sunny skies and a full house at Doak Campbell Stadium Saturday afternoon as the Florida State Seminoles hosted the Kent State Golden Flashes.
The 7th-ranked Noles entered the game as 44.5-point favorites, the game was never in question and records were broken as FSU cruised to a 66-10 victory.

FSU’s 775 total yards and the 498 rushing yards set all-time school records. And the 35-point program record first quarter was only marred by a 75-yard touchdown pass by Kent State.

The game was stopped due to a lightning proximity alert with 2:29 left in the 2nd quarter. Officials determined that the 42-minute delay would act as the game’s half-time break. When they returned to the field the teams finished the rest of the second quarter and then played the second half. That final 2 minutes of 2nd quarter action brought 10 more Nole points and an injury delay for a Kent State defender who, after a long break in action, was carted off the field and taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital for observation.

All four FSU quarterbacks saw action. Starter Thomas Castellanos finished with 205 passing yards and 54 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns. Gavin Sawchuk led all rushers with 97 yards and 2 touchdowns and Micahi Danzy finished with 64 yards on the ground and caught 2 passes for 112 yards.
During a 1st quarter break in action seven former Noles were recognized as the 2025 FSU Athletic Hall of Fame. 2014 Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Jameis Winston was among the seven honorees.

The Noles have a shortened week of preparation as they travel to Charlottesville for a Friday night game against the Virginia Cavaliers. Kickoff Friday is at 7pm.
While FSU entered Saturday’s game ranked 7th in the Associated Press poll, the updated poll dropped FSU to #8 in the country.
