Let's get to know the snakes of Florida. Our state's sixty-six species include common backyard snakes and specialists who spend most of their time underground, or in rivers or salt marshes. We want to know, how likely is a venomous snake to bite you? How can we coexist with the snakes who slither into the spaces around our homes?
Our guests are Kim Sash, the Biological Monitoring Coordinator at Tall Timbers Research Station and Land Conservancy, and Pierson Hill, Research Associate with the FWC Fish and Wildlife Research Institute.
Kim and Pierson brought in the following snakes:
- Eastern kingsnake.
- Grey ratsnake.
- Florida pine snake.
- Western hognose snake.
- Striped salt marsh snake.
