Chief Timothy Ashley was fired after he was accused of mismanaging funds.

An investigative hearing begins this Thursday regarding a former Quincy Police Chief who was fired after he was accused of mismanaging funds.

Timothy Ashley took over Quincy’s police department in 2021. He was terminated in October by Richard Nixon, the city’s manager, after he said Ashley failed to “maintain a functional work environment.” But Quincy Commissioner Robin Wood says she was never given notice of any wrongdoings.

“Put something in front of us as the process is going. If anyone has violated their oath or office, then we should know about it before you’ve gotten to the point where you fire them.”

Commissioners voted to conduct an investigation in November. The result of that investigation will be heard before the commission on Thursday, December 7th at 6 p.m. at Quincy City Hall.
