WFSU Public Media Offers New At-Home Learning Programming And Digital Resources For Fall 2020

As the school year begins, WFSU offers free broadcast TV programs that support at-home learning for Pre-K through 12th grade; digital resources provide educators and families with learning options for new school routines.

Tallahassee, FL September 2, 2020 – As a school year unlike any other gets under way, WFSU is helping support educators, parents, and caregivers with a variety of free, high-quality, and accessible educational media resources. The WFSU PBS KIDS 24/7 channel, WFSU KIDS 360 (for young learners ages 2-8), and WORLD Channel At-Home Learning Service (for learners grades 6-12), on 4FSU will feature broadcast programming linked to at-home learning resources that can be used by educators to supplement distance learning plans, or by parents to provide added enrichment and support for children’s educational needs.

WFSU’s broadcast signal stretches from Okaloosa County in Florida (WFSG), east to Taylor and Madison Counties. WFSU’s signal also covers most of south Georgia’s western counties, reaching a majority of these households with free, over-the-air broadcasts and a deep trove of digital educational resources (PBS LearningMedia, pbskids.org, PBS KIDS for Parents, and more).

WFSU Education and Engagement continues to provide a variety of virtual programs and events, including early childcare provider and parent workshops, interactive camp and after-school programs, as well as our Ready To Learn Family and Community Learning Workshops.

“WFSU Public Television began 60 years ago as ‘educational television’ and now provides these at-home learning services to assist students, families, teachers, administrators and school systems throughout our region as an extension of our mission to serve everybody, everywhere, every day. Public television stations in every state are pursuing similar at-home learning initiatives that best serve their communities during this continued national crisis. It’s educational television, when America needs it most,” said WFSU General Manager David Mullins.
