Leon County Supervisor of Elections Ion Sancho is preparing to mail out thousands of vote-by-mail ballots—previously called absentee ballots.
Sancho says the earliest day his office can send out vote by mail ballots requested by voters is Tuesday, and he adds with the latest requests, Leon County will set a record.
“21,000 individuals have called our office and have otherwise notified us that they want to vote by mail, and all of those ballots will be going out this coming Tuesday in the mail,” said Sancho. “So, 21,000 is a record amount. I think the previous high was 17,000.”
Sancho says anyone wishing to vote by mail can contact the Leon County Supervisor of Elections office. The deadline to request a vote by mail ballot for the August 30th Primary election is August 24th. The last day to request one for the November 8th General Election is November 2nd.
