FEA Backs Gillum In Governor's Race After Graham Primary Loss

FEA Facebook

The Florida Education Association has directed its support to a new candidate for governor after its former favorite, Gwen Graham, lost in the primary. The FEA says it is “disappointed” in Graham’s loss, but is backing Democratic nominee Andrew Gillum.

The group says Gillum will be “a forceful advocate for world-class public schools.” The FEA takes a hard stance against charter schools, which it calls “for-profit drivers for large corporations.” That likely factors into its picking Gillum over his competition, Congressman Ron DeSantis.

Gillum’s website says the candidate is “strongly opposed” to charter schools. DeSantis is an advocate for "expanding parental choice."
