Listen to Speaking Of now.

Tallahassee, FL—WFSU Public Media is launching a new broadcast and podcast program called Speaking Of and Speaking Of: The Unbothered Edition, a show dedicated to local public affairs and the water cooler conversations that drive our daily lives.

The show features both familiar and new voices and will cover topics from state/regional/local governments and politics to arts and culture, and a healthy dose of the mundane, witty, and sometimes weird.

Speaking Of is meant to represent answers to questions and issues we’ve been wondering about, while also giving us a break from the unfortunately, all-too-often “doom and gloom” of the daily news cycle.

Our goal is to keep it real, keep it simple, and keep it local with our approach to storytelling.

The program replaces WFSU’s legacy Perspectives show which wrapped up its last episode in 2022. Since that time, WFSU has worked to re-imagine and re-invent a program that is more approachable and representative of this community and this region. Speaking Of features three separate segments, with the third acting as a preview to the spin off the “Unbothered Edition” podcast.

You’ll hear WFSU reporters as you probably haven’t heard them before!

New and returning hosts include:

  • Gina Jordan, Morning Edition Host
  • Josh Johnson, 621 Gallery
  • Tom Flanigan, Program Director for News
  • Rheannah Wynter, host of the “Unbothered Edition”

The show is produced by Patricia Moynihan (Director of Digital) and Lynn Hatter (News Director). It’s supported by PRX’s Podcast Accelerator program and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, with inspiration from American Press Institute’s Table Stakes program.

Tune in Thursday mornings at 11 am on 88.9/WFSU-FM. You can email the show at speakingof@wfsu.org. We'd love to hear from you!
