Thanks to a special Leon County housing program, an elderly woman south of Tallahassee has a brand new home to call her own.

Elzena Osborn's modest house in the Crown Ridge Road neighborhood was already run down when fire struck recently. The burned-out shell was beyond repair, so County Housing Services Manager Jalani Marks says a special solution was needed.

"It's a wonderful example of Leon County's housing mission in action. It was built through our home replacement program, which is one of the many strategies that we use to increase and preserve the affordable housing stock."

The brand new, 1,300 square foot dwelling means that Ms Osborn and her family can remain in the neighborhood they've called home for many more years.
