Students from nearby Canopy Oaks Elementary School fulfilled the day's physical activity requirement by giving the new playground equipment at Jackson View Park a thorough workout.

One of America's faster-growing pastimes is Disc Golf. That activity is now part of the fun at Leon County's Jackson View Park on the shores of Lake Jackson.

Tallahassee Disc Golf Association head Laymon Gray says the game is played with discs that look a little bit like frisbies. And the rules couldn't be simpler.

"Throw the disc into each basket's hole. We call them holes, but they're baskets. But the goal is to throw them in with as few throws as possible."

Both young and old can play. And County Administrator Vince Long says it's just one of the newly expanded park offerings.

"We've got the playground for the kids and disc golf for people of all ages and it really brings the community together."

A community of several dozen kids from nearby Canopy Oaks Elementary School seemed to agree, as they became the first people to try out all the new playground equipment at Jackson View Park.
