Tallahassee now has two full service senior citizen centers. Wednesday, Sept. 23 saw the grand opening of the new one on Welaunee Boulevard.
The 40,000 square foot center has been under construction since mid-2024. Hundreds of people turned out for Wednesday's opening ceremonies during which the city's Senior Services Manager Ceola Grant welcomed the large crowd and encouraged them to check out the new center's many offerings.
"People can swing by and enjoy the comfortable social spaces, our double-size multi-purpose gym, six pickleball courts...."
With that, the audience broke into enthusiastic cheers and applause.
In addition, the new center offers arts programs, lifelong learning courses and all kinds of travel opportunities. A full open house is set to take place on October eighth
