A former Florida State football player and the current radio play-by-play voice for FSU baseball has been named the public address announcer at Doak Campbell Stadium.
Eric Luallen takes the job after former announcer Woody Hayes was let go in July after 16 football seasons behind the microphone. For now, Hayes remains the announcer for FSU basketball teams.

TALLAHASSEE – Eric Luallen, a former Florida State football student-athlete and the current radio play-by-play voice for FSU baseball, has been named the public address announcer at Doak Campbell Stadium.
“I am incredibly humbled to be given this opportunity, in this stadium, almost 40 years to the day after I reported for my first practice under Coach Bowden,” Luallen said. “I feel like the luckiest person in the world to have the honor to serve my alma mater through my 20 seasons as the radio voice of FSU baseball and now also this opportunity with Florida State football.”
Luallen was an offensive lineman for College Football Hall of Fame head coach Bobby Bowden from 1986-89. The Tampa native’s final three seasons were the beginning of a dynasty in Tallahassee.
Florida State was 11-1 in both 1987 and 1988, defeating No. 3 Nebraska in the Fiesta Bowl to end the 1987 season and beating No. 4 Auburn in the Sugar Bowl to cap the 1988 campaign, before a 10-2 record with a win over No. 5 Nebraska in the Fiesta Bowl his senior season.
FSU finished the 1987 season No. 2 in the final AP poll and was ranked No. 3 in both 1988 and 1989, beginning a stretch of an NCAA-record 14 consecutive top-5 finishes for the Seminoles, a streak that began in 1987 and lasted through 2000.
He began his FSU baseball broadcasting career in 2007 and has called 984 games on the radio, including six College World Series appearances, four ACC Tournament championships and three regular season conference titles. He also has contributed to FSU football pregame shows on the radio and anchored the debut season of GameDay Live on the Seminoles Unconquered app from inside Doak Campbell Stadium in 2025.
