During the conversation, Williams-Cox said she is running on her record and pointed to continued growth and recognition for the city.

“I have done my level best to make sure that Tallahassee, the capital city of the state of Florida, continue to shine, be that beacon of light here in the state of Florida,” she said. “I expect to continue to be involved in making decisions on policies that will continue to make us the all-American city that we've been named three times."

She also reflected on the challenges of serving on the commission, saying experience has reinforced to her the importance of difficult decision-making.

“You have to make hard decisions and you have to be able to live with yourself and with those around you when you make those hard decisions, because everyone's not going to agree with you,” she said.

She said she encourages young people obtaining higher education in Tallahassee to remain in Tallahassee after graduation and help shape the city’s future.

“My pitch to young people is, please stay here and help us grow. Please stay here and build the community that you would like to see,” she said.
