A three-year contract extension for Florida State University President Richard McCullough will go before the State University System’s Board of Governors next week.
The school’s 16th president, McCullough was hired in 2021 and his current contract was set to expire at the end of August. The new contract, backed unanimously by the FSU Board of Trustees on Feb. 25, extends his time with the school through Aug. 31, 2029.
The Board of Governors is meeting Wednesday and Thursday at the University of West Florida.
In January, the Board of Governors changed its rules to allow universities to extend presidents’ contracts up to three years instead of one year at a time.
McCullough’s most recent contract extension from August 2025 increased his base salary to $1.25 million a year. He also received a $500,000 bonus after his evaluation.
