Leon County's Apalachee Regional Park hosted the 2026 Highland Games over the weekend. It was a grand and glorious celebration of all things Scottish.

There was Scottish music, Scotch whiskey, Scottish kilts, even Scottish cows. And amongst it all, "Irish Ann." She owns an Irish curio shop in Homosassa Springs and said her non-Scottish heritage wasn't a problem.

"No, not at all. We're all Celts!"

Tallahassee's original Highland Games fizzled out several years back. But four years ago, Ryan May and like-minded supporters revived the festival.

"It's become a really great family event, community folks having fun, a little bit of everything here!"

Long-haired Highland cows were among the more popular attractions at the event.

There was a turnout of thousands to watch the national caber-tossing championship and world's strongest stone lifter contest, as well as celebrating a weekend when everyone is at least a little bit Celtic.
