Much of Georgia Cappleman’s life in recent years has been consumed by the case of an FSU law professor who was gunned down by contract killers. On Monday, Dec, 15, the chief assistant state attorney for the Second Judicial Circuit told members of the Capital Tiger Bay Club that the case has also turned her into an unwilling celebrity.
"I've learned that the epicenter of my fan base is at T.J. Maxx on Thomasville Road. I recently went in there and had to run screaming into the night after posing for photos with lots of well-wishers in there. I gave one actual autograph at Hopkins Eatery."
She also noted that some of the unwanted attention has gone a bit beyond a few folks simply being star struck.
"My husband caught some guy recording me (as I was) bent over in the soda aisle trying to load fizzy water into my cart. That didn't go very well. I had a guy write and record a pretty creepy song about watching me through the windows."
She said a man even brought a giant dog into her office, wearing a tag with her name on it, suggesting both she and the animal were taking a "bite out of crime." Cappleman kept Monday's meeting of the Capital Tiger Bay Club in high hilarity as she recounted the many strange things that have happened as the case has gone on.
