The Tallahassee Science Festival celebrated its 14th year on Nov. 8. More than 80 exhibit booths extended across Kleman Plaza from College Avenue to Pensacola Street.

The festival is hosted by Tallahassee State College. One of the exhibit spaces was occupied by Janet Hartman who directs T.S.C.'s Public Safety Institute. She said there's a strong link between science and first responders.

"The law enforcement officers use finger printing technology, they wear body armor and things that are designed by scientists. So that's what we're here to talk about today."

Ilya Litvik was also in attendance. He is the incoming president of the Tallahassee Scientific Society. His group regularly visits the county's Title One schools to get the kids stoked about science.

"Bring half-a-dozen or a dozen presenters to fill the cafeteria like we did this past week at Hartsfield Elementary and we're doing at Bond and Pineview this upcoming week."

Proving again, he said, that science is fun, as well as serious business, in Tallahassee.
