Members of the public will have a chance this weekend to learn about one of the Native nations that once called North Florida and South Georgia home. Visitors will get an up-close look at some of the heritage and culture of the Lower Muscogee Creek Tribe.
This Friday through Sunday (Oct. 17-19) South Georgia's Lower Muscogee Creek Tribe will welcome visitors to their 53rd Annual Pow Wow and Cultural Festival near Whigham, Georgia. Along with the music, dancing, native craft creations and visitors from several other Native nations, event planner Peggy Venable said there is a fully immersive Native American experience.
"We're also featuring our live-in village. They walk back 2,000 years in time and see how they dressed, how they lived, how they cooked, where they lived and what kind of little houses they lived in."
