Kids of all ages were in Tom Brown Park Saturday for the Leon County Volunteer Fire Truck Roundup. In the course of the event, special honors were given to a very veteran volunteer fire fighter.
Chad Abrams, the county's EMS chief, greeted a crowd of hundreds at the firefighting showcase.
"Welcome and thank you for joining us for the 28th Annual Leon County Volunteer Fire Truck Roundup."
For all 28 of those years, Bobby Bacon with the Earl Bacon Insurance Agency has sponsored the Fire Fighter of the Year Award.
"The 2025 Firefighter of the Year, Karl Hook!" he announced as the crowd broke into cheers and applause.
Hook has fought thousands of fires, rescued car wreck victims and even delivered babies over his 30-year volunteer career.
