The Knight Creative Communities Institute is behind a new mural unveiled on Saturday, Sept. 27. The goal is to contribute to Tallahassee’s sense of place.
K-C-C-I's latest project is a giant mural at the entrance to Argonaut Coffee on the north edge of Cascades Park. It's entitled "Good Things Grow Here" and portrays many of the plants found in the area in and around the park. Leon High School art teacher Andy Steinbrink was in charge of the work.
"I got to get some students involved in some of the spots that I drew out. It was really fun getting to know people in the community and the first project I've done for Betsy (Couch) and the KCCI group. A really good community building event."
KCCI Director Betsy Couch said her organization has many more place-making paintings planned around town in the months to come.
