The Tallahassee Police Department says nearly half of its officers are hometown folks, born and raised in the Capital City. A number of these law enforcers are being showcased in a new series of videos the department is posting on its social media.
Almost half-a-dozen of the new "Hometown Heroes" videos were premiered Wednesday morning, Sept. 24 on the giant IMAX screen at the Challenger Learning Center.
Attending the showing were TPD's Hometown Heroes along with their family members. Deputy Chief Maurice Holmes - a 31-year department veteran - was one of the video stars. He sees the vids as a wonderful recruiting tool to bring more potential hometown heroes into the fold.
"I can go anywhere in the community and have a conversation like we're having right here because when it comes down to it, we're all people and holistically, that's what we want for everyone to see us as real people."
The Tallahassee Police Hometown Heroes videos are being posted on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
