This week's Alzheimer's Project event brings Broadway to Opperman Music Hall

Tom Flanigan

Some real musical stars will hit the stage of FSU's Opperman Music Hall this Thursday evening, Sept. 25. The event is a fundraiser to benefit the Alzheimer's Project.

The show is called "Broadway Memories." It will feature Kimilee Bryant, who sang in 'Phantom of the Opera' on Broadway. Plus nationally acclaimed tenor Jeffrey Springer who studied at the FSU School of Music. Alzheimer's Project board member Rob Wicker said there's a direct link between the performance and the care of those whose memories are failing.

"Because a lot of times when people have memory issues, the one thing they can remember are those favorite songs. I cared for my mother and we'd ride around the countryside of North Carolina listening to Broadway classics and she'd just light up when she'd hear them."
