The congregation of a Tallahassee church spent part of Saturday, July 26 putting together buckets of supplies to help future Florida flood victims.

The goal had been to fill 100 buckets. But the group wound up with a final count of more than 130.

St. Paul's United Methodist Church Associate Pastor Mary Ann Piccioni described the contents.

"In each bucket we've got work gloves, heavy-duty cleaning gloves, 3 types of cleaners, mosquito repellent, clothes pins, brushes, trash bags, everything they'll need to begin that cleaning process."

St. Paul's Senior Pastor Carolyn Williamson and Associate Pastor MaryAnn Piccioni said they'd endure a soaking from congregants if at least 100 buckets were filled. The 130-bucket total compelled them to fulfill that promise.

Those buckets will join the statewide total being assembled by Florida's other United Methodist Churches. The ultimate goal for that is 5,000 buckets. They're likely to come in handy for future flood victims. The National Weather Service predicts this year is already on track to set an all-time record for flash flood warnings.
