A deputy is facing a misdemeanor charge of introducing contraband into the Leon County Detention Facility.

The Leon County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) says deputies conducted a routine safety inspection of the jail Wednesday evening.

A search of jail personnel led to the discovery of contraband on 24-year-old Chauncy Riggsby. Deputies say he was found with unauthorized tobacco products and taken into custody.

Riggsby was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal affairs investigation. He’s been employed by LCSO since 2021.
