Model train fans see what's new - and old - at the Big Bend Model Railroad Association show

Model train fans by the hundreds headed to the North Florida Fairgrounds the weekend of June 28th and 29th. They were making tracks to the 34th Annual Model Train Show hosted by the Big Bend Model Railroad Association.

Model trains of all shapes, sizes and vintages were making their way around incredibly intricate and lifelike layouts.

Vendors had everything from the classic Lionel trains from the 1950s and 60s, like Albany, Georgia's Harold Parris brought.

"You can see there's a wide price range. The sky's the limit sometimes and you have to set your budget."

And there were the most modern computerized models. There were even trains built from Legos, as David Glenn with the Greater Florida Lego Users Group explained.

"We use Legos as our medium and it's easy to build. There's nothing we can't build out of Lego pieces."

And Big Bend Model Railroad Association President Andy Zimmerman said the show's size and success is the reason vendors keep coming.

"That makes them want to come back next year and that's why the show sells out. I put the contracts out in February, by the end of February it was sold out."

Which means more traffic and more proceeds going to support the Big Bend Model Railroad Association.
