For a second year in a row, the Southern Shakespeare Festival battles the elements

As more storm clouds gathered Sunday evening, the Southern Shakespeare Company moved the production into The Moon.

Last year, it was tornadoes. This year, Tallahassee's Southern Shakespeare Festival was plagued with thunderstorms. But even though the company was completely rained out Friday evening, the show went on the remaining three nights.

The threat of Sunday night showers sent the final production of "Henry IV Part 1" packing to The Moon's indoor stage. But Southern Shakes Executive Director Bianca Montague said that "plan B" was in place well in advance because of lessons learned from last year's tornadoes.

"While the event is very special downtown in Cascades Park - there's nothing like it - it's still possible to pick up the show and bring it somewhere else and have it be just as special and magical, but in a different more intimate way."

Montague added having contingency plans is an old dramatic tradition. Probably going as far back as Shakespeare's time.

"There's an ancient, ancient adage in theater and that is: the show must go on. And we're living and breathing proof of it."
