A new Dog park is now open at the entrance to the Apalachee Regional Park.
County Administrator Vince Long welcomed dozens of people and their pooches for Tuesday's official opening of the facility.
"Commissioners, if I had a tail, I'd be waggin' it. And there's your disturbing visual for the day, folks," he quipped.
County Commissioner and dog owner David O'Keefe said the 2-acre space, with separate spaces for large and smaller dogs, has lots of running room, water, shaded rest areas and a unique feature.
"The county's first public dog agility course. Which this commissioner did not attempt, but we did get one of our dogs to go through."
Some of the course offerings, "Rover Jump Over," "King of the Hill," and "Doggie Crawl." The park even has separate dog washing stations.
