The Tallahassee Museum was a festive place over the weekend. There was the Pioneer Breakfast early Saturday. That was immediately followed by the Jazz and Blues Festival, which continued the rest of Saturday and throughout Sunday.
Groups like the Tallahassee Swing Band were tearing up the Museum's outdoor stage.
Waiting for their turn onstage was Rhythm Remedy, whose drummer is Mark Cooley. The gig is a favorite of he and his bandmates.
"It supports the museum and gives us all a chance to see the local talent and have fun."
Also having fun was music organizer and well-known Tallahassee troubadour Del Suggs. He noted the Capital City's musical roots are long and deep.
"The third or fourth recorded blues artist in the entire history of blues music named 'Tallahassee Tight,' was born and grew up at what is essentially now the end of Buck Lake Road."
Tallahassee Tight's first records would be released around the same time as the legendary recordings of the great Robert Johnson in the early 1930s.
