The state university system’s Board of Governors this week will consider a plan by Florida State University to expand a project revamping Doak Campbell Stadium.

The board in 2023 approved issuing $265 million in bonds for the project, which focused on renovations to seating on the west side of the stadium and in the south end zone.

The proposal going to the Board of Governors during a meeting Wednesday would change the bond resolution to allow other work in the stadium. It would not increase the overall amount of the bonds.

“According to FSU, the project is nearly 75% complete and has achieved estimated cost savings of approximately $25M ($25 million),” an agenda item for the meeting says.

“In light of these savings, the FSUAA (Florida State University Athletics Association) would like to expand the project scope to include, among other things, a new jumbotron and conduct renovations throughout the stadium, not just the west and south sections as originally contemplated.”
