Last week, Tallahassee's small urban green space called "Lichgate" was vandalized. Now a community effort is underway to speed the recovery process.

Lichgate Director Sonia De La Cruz said Lichgate's tiny cottage, the historic home of the property's original owner, FSU Professor Laura Jepsen, was heavily damaged. The front door was kicked in, furniture and artifacts were destroyed. Volunteers did the initial cleanup, but De La Cruz said a lot more needs to be done.

"The big thing is that we know we need to get from the community to help the revitalization of Lichgate on High Road. We need to secure the roof, the flooring, to the repairs there, the out buildings and most of all the security."

A Go-Fund-Me effort is gearing up for the project.
