Holiday shoppers in and around Tallahassee will have lots of options this weekend. Among the choices are two major gifting events to enjoy.
One year shy of its 60th anniversary, Market Days always brings thousands of eager shoppers to the North Florida Fairgrounds. With the added attraction of a Sunday performance by local band Tobacco Road, the event, which benefits the Tallahassee Museum, happens Saturday from 10 to 5 and Sunday from 10 to 4. Also on those days is the Alternative Christmas Market at John Wesley United Methodist Church. It invites shoppers' donations to a wide range of worthy causes in the name of others. Church Pastor Bethany Douty said her family has shopped the market for years.
"We invite our children to come and choose somewhere we get to donate in their name for Christmas. And that has been one of the most meaningful Christmas gifts, because they're just as excited to open that envelope as anything else we get them."
