The American Legion Hall at Lake Ella was filled to capacity for the Operation Thank You breakfast.

In Leon County, Veterans Day began with an early-morning meal. Local elected officials were serving breakfast to hundreds of vets and their families at the Lake Ella American Legion.

It was County Government's yearly "Operation Thank You," although some city and even state officials were also on hand to express their gratitude. Navy Veteran Tom Morgan had some thanks of his own.

"I so much appreciate the county commissioners and their staffs coming out to serve us a courtesy breakfast. It's just a wonderful experience."

Maria Rizulli isn't a vet herself, but she's spent years in the Women Veterans Unite organization, doing whatever she can to help. She's also a fan of Operation Thank You.

"I'm very proud of what we do here because this is not done all over. People don't realize that."

Breakfast at the Legion was followed by the Veterans Day Parade on Monroe Street.
