After August's primary election in Leon County, the bulk of political campaign signs in yards and along roadways disappeared. The effort that made that happen takes place again after next week's general election.

The political sign recycling campaign involved the Leon County Elections Office and Resource Stewardship Department, along with Marpan Recycling and the League of Women Voters of Tallahassee. The League's Meta Calder said the recycling push resumes after next Tuesday, November 5.

"The day after the election and for about a week, you can bring your signs to all the branch offices of the library, plus Marpan, plus the Leon county waste site, and also the elections office itself."

Then, for a full 30 days, signs can be dropped off at the elections office, Marpan and the county's hazardous waste site. State law requires all political signs to vanish within 30 days of the election.
