The county’s final budget for FY25 is just under $380 million

As Leon County’s new fiscal year begins, this is the 13th straight year that the county’s millage rate has remained the same.

The Leon County budget is balanced without increasing the years-long 8.3144 millage rate. For Fiscal Year 2025, property values increased by just over 10 percent, providing $18.2 million more in property tax revenue.

Commission Chair Carolyn Cummings says she’s proud the county hasn’t increased the millage rate over the last 13 years.

“And we are able to absorb whatever extra revenue has come in from Amazon and new homes and other sources," she said, "to provide services to our community, to provide extra law enforcement…”

Commissioner Bill Proctor says it’s even more impressive given that so much property in Leon County is in government hands.

We’re all about “keeping it real, keeping it simple, and keeping it local.” We’ll dive into tough topics but also make sure to have some fun along the way.

“Over half of the property in our community is not taxable. It’s exempt," he said. "Those constraints – with the numbers and the packaging of what we propose for next year – is pretty incredible.”

The county’s final budget for the new fiscal year is just under $380 million.
