The Tallahassee Collegiate Academy is a year old and recently earned an A-grade from the state. Now the school is expanding its grade levels as students progress.

The academy is offered by Tallahassee State College--formerly Community College--and it offers students the chance to graduate with both a high school diploma and an associate in science degree. Board Chair Karen Moore says the school is a game-changer.

“This extraordinary school, in its first year of operation, received an A grade from the Department of Education – and our students are getting extraordinary learning through project-based, hands-on experiences,” she said.

The academy is focused on the STEM fields: science, technology, engineering and math. Moore says its graduates will be ready to go straight into the workforce in high-skill, high-demand jobs.

“They also have the opportunity to build not only their knowledge, but we focus on character," she said. "We focus on community relations. I think it’s a unique blend, creating a 360 approach for students’ learning.”
