A fun mash-up of Shakespeare and science happens this Friday and Saturday evening, August 2 and 3 at Tallahassee's Challenger Learning Center. The event is a fanciful trip through space with some of the Bard's characters as tour guides.
Characters portraying the classical elements Earth, Wind, Fire and Water sometimes appeared in Shakespeare's plays. Southern Shakespeare Director Randi Lundgren said they'll reappear in the Challenger Learning Center's planetarium.
"It starts as a planetarium show and the elements interrupt and take over."
The elements then take the audience on an imaginary space flight. Challenger Learning Center staffer Savannah Caldwell said it will be an immersive experience.
"With our planetarium, we do have the ability to have an accurate, scientifically correct show that goes along with what the characters are saying and what Shakespeare would have seen and thought, too."
"Shakespeare's Cosmos" will be at the Challenger Learning Center Planetarium this Friday and Saturday evening at 7:30.
