Author Rhett DeVane

One of Tallahassee's best-known writers of Southern fiction has a new book. Rhett DeVane's latest work is entitled "Ditch Weed."

Although the term "Ditch Weed" usually refers to an inferior strain of wild marijuana, DeVane said the reference in her book is to the power of unlikely relationships to improve our lives.

"And it's about the resilience of humanity, how they can come back from nothing and have a successful life."

Actually two lives, as the story's main characters - two women, one very young and one very old - learn lessons important lessons from their unexpected friendship.

"Learning your own value and trying to get into your life the people who are most valuable to you and in return, you're valuable to them."

"Ditch Weed," Rhett DeVane's latest novel, is now available online and in local book stores.
