Summertime means visiting out-of-town friends and relatives for many Tallahassee residents. The local tourism promotion organization is again helping to make those visits more enjoyable.

Visit Tallahassee Marketing Director Katie Kole said it's the third year for the "Summer Bucket List" promotion.

"Twenty-five percent of the people who visit Leon County - roughly - are visiting friends and family. So people who live here are our best ambassadors."

So Visit Tallahassee provides a "Summer Bucket List" of suggested local destinations. Visiting more than 10 of those makes residents eligible for prizes and enters them in a contest to win a big grand prize at the end of August.

"And it's going to include a 2-night stay at a local hotel, gift cards, experiences at local attractions and museums and it's really a weekend 'staycation' in Tallahassee."
