"Star Wars is among the most popular and enduring stories in modern history. The saga even has its own international fan day called "May the FOURTH be with You Day," a takeoff on a famous line from the first movie in 1977. Tallahassee was marking the occasion in its own special way on Saturday.

A youthful string band was bravely working its way through the complexities of John Williams' iconic "Star Wars" soundtrack. There were also trivia contests, "Star Wars" fan films and a lot more during Saturday's big party at the Challenger Learning Center. The Center's Executive Director Allen Hanstein was as excited as the kids in the audience.

"I can remember riding my bike to see return of the Jedi and what a thrill that was when we were younger to see these movies that were these incredible, epic stories that obviously there must be something special about them. Because I'm 56 and there are young kids here who think it's just as special as I did 45 years ago."

And with seemingly non-stop spinoffs and extensions of the original story line, it seems the celebration of May 4th as "Star Wars Day" is in no danger of ending anytime soon.
