A steady line of expo visitors was checking out the various information booths and seminars at the event.

A new forecast from the Florida Realtors Assocation predicts a more active market for home buyers and sellers in Leon County for the rest of this year. That meant one more reason to check out the Saturday, April 13th Leon Home Expo at the county's extension office on Paul Russell Road.

The event had lots of information booths covering almost every aspect of homeownership, including how to buy a home. That's the specialty of Karen Miller, executive director of the Tallahassee Lenders' Consortium.

"What we do is work for affordable housing. We work with people so they understand the options. We educate them on the process and we have programs that assist first-time homebuyers, second-time homebuyers and we make all those down payment assistance programs available in the Big Bend area."

There were also seminars on home improvements, obtaining property insurance and ways to lower utility costs.
