The Adderley Amphitheater began to fill more than an hour before the performances got underway.

Tallahassee's Adderley Amphitheater at Cascades Park was the scene of celebration and inspiration on Friday and Saturday, March 22 and 23. It was the inaugural Gospel Music Jubilee, featuring some of the top artists in that unique music category.

The roots of today's gospel music goes back almost a century. But Kerri Post with Visit Tallahassee said this was the first time Leon County had officially celebrated the art form by hosting a formal concert.

"We put on like 10 or 12 concerts a year and we've never done a gospel (concert.) Much less, we've never done a 2-day festival before. So this has been exceptional! As we really started planning last year because of the Bicentennial, this was a way to involve our churches."

The first Tallahassee Gospel Music Jubilee featured a long list of chart-topping performers, including Todd Dulaney, Pastor Mike, Jr. and Grammy-winner Yolanda Adams.
