Friends and fans of Tallahassee musician Kathryn Belle Long are set to gather at Lake Ella on Saturday, February 3rd. It will be a celebration of life for the much-loved singer-songwriter who died last May at the age of 42.

An event organizer who knew Kathryn Belle Long very well is fellow musician Kelly Goddard of the New 76ers. She said it took months to organize a suitable event, not only for remembrance, but also to raise money for a Leon School District scholarship set up in Long’s honor.

“What better way to honor her than to try and raise money for her scholarship. That’s kind of how it all started.”

The tribute will begin at 5:30 the evening of February third at the Lake Ella Gazebo. There will be a jazz band funeral march around the lake and then into the American Legion hall. That’s where an evening of music will ensue with local bands Raisin’ Cane, the New 76ers, Lil’ Grizzly and Revival.
