Florida State University hopes to highlight its research and innovation with a new Discovery Days program. The week-long event includes workshops, seminars, and a shark tank-style competition.

FSU touts itself as a major national research university. The school says it spends more than 200 million dollars on research each year. During Discovery Days the school hopes to share that work with the university community and members of the public.

“We’re hoping to highlight some of the innovation, creativity, and discovery that happens right here at Florida State University as part of our research enterprise that's really changing the lives of people here in Tallahassee and beyond," says Stacy Patterson Vice President of Research at FSU. "We wanna highlight that, showcase that and just really show people all of the great things that are happening here”

Officials hope to research at the university could lead to new products and businesses that might help boost the local economy. Data from 2019 shows The FSU Maglab contributes more than 300-million dollars to the state economy each year.

The event continues through October 7th.
